Birthday retreat

I was browsing websites looking for a get-away on the coast when I remembered the wonderful time I had at Sea View Grotto a couple years ago. I was there for a private birthday retreat and it was perfect for me. The house is nestled among big trees, is tastefully decorated and is comfortable for one, a couple or family, or a group. I stayed on the first floor only, enjoying the spacious master bedroom, comfy living areas and the open, totally equipped kitchen. It was stormy the first night and I loved the view out the dining room window of the wild ocean a couple of hundred feet from the house and hearing the sounds of the waves. The next morning I walked on the peaceful beach. The town of Gold Beach is really cute and has some very good restaurants if you don’t want to cook. Day trips north on 101 take you to coastal towns with lots of charm, views and parks. I am going back!

Right on the beach, and a perfect “base camp”!

First of all, this was the cleanest, best-kept vrbo property we’ve ever stayed in. And it’s big! Plenty of space for the whole family. It’s also RIGHT on the beach. You can see the waves from the breakfast table, and it’s a quick hop along the dune path to the sand. The kids went crazy building driftwood forts and collecting agates.

I think the best part of the property, though, is its perfect location as a base camp. There’s so much to do in the area. We took a 6-hour jet boat ride up the Rogue River; we hiked to Secret Beach; we went horseback riding; we drove south to see the Redwoods; we checked out the County Fair. I think we could have easily stayed a month without running out of things to do.

A great property in a gorgeous location. It was definitely a trip to remember!

Annual family vacation

We had a ball!! One of the best vacations we have had as a family. We’ve been doing this for the last 10 years. The location of your house is great. We actually loved the short walk to the beach, everyone was anticipating what they would find on the beach.

I did as Mary, the owner, suggested and went to the Visitors Center 1st thing. They were very helpful. Very informative.

We took walks on the beach. Kids loved all the drift wood and the two forts that were there. My husband and son went on an all day fishing trip and LOVED IT. My daughter in law and grand kids drove to the Redwoods and really enjoyed it. On Monday we did the 100 mile jet boat ride and really, really loved it ( everyone got sopping wet!) We saw eagles, deer, bear, otter and other birds and incredible canyons that you would never see otherwise. My son took a wide screen video and it was hilarious!! It was so fun seeing the looks on my grand kids faces when the wave of water came in. We had Monopoly tournaments and my 6 year old just rocked. So much fun!! The kids rode their scooters around the turnaround and it was great to easily keep an eye on them. Was sorry we didn’t have time to get to the tide pools. We took one day to just chill – the time went fast it seemed.

I definitely would rate our vacation a BIG 10!!! The property owners and managers were awesome! We had everything we needed and more.
